Tech Talks - Jill McKinney, Sunderland Software City

Jill McKinney (Gavin Forster Photography)

Working with industry and education

Tech Talks with Jill McKinney on Wednesday 9 May 2018, brought the first non-business digital leader to the hotseat. Jill has vast experience of working with many of the people behind some of the most successful businesses in the area.

Jill's role sees her work across the region, proactively engaging industry and education to support both parties to get what they need from each other - talk about a challenge!

With teachers being stretched to breaking point with existing curriculum demands, the need for digital skills in business in of huge importance - and not only in the tech sector.

Moving on to ensuring there is opportunity for industry to input into education whilst recognising the constraints some SMEs face with their time, there is the potential of real trouble brewing in developing and recruiting talent within the North East.

Jill pumps the region with enthusiasm and when she's finished her day at work, with meetings in locations from South Shields to Newcastle and Middlesbrough, she takes to the streets... in her running shoes of course!
