Applications for the Omicron Small Business Hardship Grant closed at 2pm on Tuesday 25 January.
The scheme closed as the number of applications we have received has exceeded the available funding.
We have received a large number of applications, and the team is working through these as quickly as possible. We are dealing with the applications in the date order that they were fully completed.
The scheme will re-open if any funding remains after the existing applications have been processed.
If you have already applied and you have received a confirmation email, your application is being processed.
Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant
Businesses in the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors can apply for a one-off grant of up to £6000, in recognition that the rise of the Omicron variant means that some businesses are likely to struggle.
South Tyneside Council have contacted all businesses who we believe are eligible with details of how to apply.

Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG)
South Tyneside Council is currently in the process of establishing a scheme and developing an application process to distribute Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) in line with Government guidance and requirements. Please note that this is a limited amount of funding.
Shop Front Improvement Grant
Applications for the Shop Front Improvement Grant closed on Friday 10 December due to grant funding being fully committed. The scheme will open again should funds become available.
If an application has been received and you have received a confirmation email, your application is being processed. Applications are being dealt with in the date order that they are fully completed.

Local Restrictions Grants
Applications have now closed for the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Open) and Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed).
Closed Business Lockdown Payment
Applications have now closed for the Closed Business Lockdown Payment.
Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG)
As part of the Government support package for businesses South Tyneside Council received £4,360,736 funds under the Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG). This has now all been allocated. You can read about how this funding was used here.
Christmas support payment for wet-led pubs
Applications for the Chistmas support payment for wet-led pubs are now closed.
Furlough Scheme Extended
The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme has been extended until April 2021 with employees receiving 80% of their current salary for hours not worked and further economic support announced. Read the full government announcement here.
Self-Employment Income Support Scheme
The Self-Employment Income Support Scheme grant extension provides critical support to the self-employed in the form of 2 further grants, each available for 3 month periods covering November 2020 to January 2021 and February 2021 to April 2021. Check eligibility here.
Coronavirus loan schemes extended
The Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS), the Coronavirus Large Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CLBILS) and the Bounce Back Loan Scheme (BBLS) - and the Future Fund will be extended to 31 January 2021. More information is available from the British Business Bank website.
Small business recovery fund
The South Tyneside Small Business Recovery Fund was launched for certain businesses which have fallen outside the scope of previous financial aid. The deadline to express an interest in the Small Business Recovery Fund has now passed.
Emergency business grants
South Tyneside Council paid one-off government grants to a significant number of small and medium-sized businesses. The deadline to apply for these grants has now passed. All businesses have now been notified if their application was successful. A comprehensive Business Support website is now available for all the very latest up to date information as new announcements are made.
Support is available for businesses looking to expand or establish new operations in South Tyneside. The Growth Fund is a £4.5m programme of investment part-funded by ERDF that supports SME growth. You could be eligible for a grant of up to 30% of expenditure, if you are a small or medium size business and planning capital investment of at least £134,000.
Eligible expenditure may include land and buildings; premises lease costs; premises fit-out costs; plant, machinery and other capital equipment or revenue costs directly associated with a capital investment, where eligible under ERDF rules (e.g. professional fees, installation costs etc.)
